U.S. Congressman David Schweikert
Week In Review

This week, our country lost two incredible Americans. President George H.W. Bush and Congressman Ed Pastor will never be forgotten.

President Bush served the American people for over 70 years with leadership and integrity. He taught each of us how to respect others and work together through some of our nation's toughest times. We send our condolences to the Bush family, and thank them for sharing their loved one with us for so many years.

Congressman Pastor was a dean of our delegation. He was a bipartisan leader, who worked for every Arizonan. This Friday, the Arizona delegation and members of the House of Representatives held a moment of silence in honor of his legacy. We send our thoughts and prayers to the Pastor family during this time.

God Bless, and Rest In Peace Mr. President and Congressman Pastor.

The above picture shows the Arizona delegation standing together on the House Floor for a moment of silence in honor of Congressman Pastor.

Above shows the Arizona delegation meeting for a breakfast discussion in Congresswoman Debbie Lesko's office. From left, Rep. Biggs, Rep. Gallego, Rep. Lesko, Rep-elect Greg Stanton, Sentor Kyl, Rep. Kirkpatrick, and Rep. Gosar joined for coffee and discussion on how we can all continue to work together to best represent Arizonans.

 Happy Hanukkah!

Wishing a Happy Hanukkah to all Arizonans celebrating. Enjoy the first night of the Festival of Lights!
Meeting with HHS Commissioner Milner

This week I had the pleasure of meeting with HHS Commissioner Milner of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). We discussed the implementation of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) and how to reshape child welfare in the United States to focus on strengthening families through prevention services. The ACF is working with states and Native American communities to implement these meaningful changes. We also discussed the key challenges to finding permanent placement for children in foster care.

Meeting with Judge Murray Snow

It was great to meet with Judge Murray Snow who came in to the D.C. office this week. Judge Snow is the Chief United States District Court Judge for the District Court of Arizona.

 Mahatma Gandhi Life Celebration

This past week I joined the Indian Embassy on Capitol Hill to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birthday anniversary. In this picture I am shown lighting the ceremonial lamp. To read more about the event, click here.
Ham(m)er time!

Glenn Hamer from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce stopped by the D.C. office to film for Ham(m)er Time! We sat down for an interview on the benefits of the tax cuts, how Arizona is affected by trade negotiations, and the new technology moving into the Phoenix area.
